Maureen Obey

Maureen Obey is a fine artist, and her lovely framed original pastels are a favorite at the Dedham Exchange. She began her art journey by sketching in charcoals but soon found the magic of watercolor.  After raising her family, she came back to art to discover a love of oils and eventually pastels.

Maureen describes her art this way: “I can’t say which is my favorite medium.  I am finding that my love is the medium I am working in at the moment.  I have been very fortunate to have had exposure to so many great teachers that share their wealth of information. I try and grow by challenging myself to make myself a better painter.  I want to paint moments that make me catch my breath.  Everywhere I look there is a painting to be done.”

Maureen is an active member of the Westwood Artists and Dedham Art Association and serves on the board of the Norwood Art Association. Her paintings can be found in Mass General Hospitals through the Illuminations Program as well as on maureenobey.com and fineartamerica.com.
