Ingrid M. Jochimsen

Ingrid is a woodworker. She handcrafts finely made wood hinged boxes, oval boxes, cutting boards, lazy susans, bookmarks, letter openers, and coasters among other wood items. Many of her wood creations are made with wood inlay or have wood carving decoration using specialty woods. She says that she likes to finish things well – they need to look good and feel good.

Ingrid has always been interested in handcrafts. In school she learned woodworking and bookbinding and other crafts and greatly enjoyed it. She started making wood toys and puzzles and branched out into other wood objects. When her daughter was in school, Ingrid was asked to provide some of her wood items for a school bazaar. This led to more and more requests to make things for others. She eventually started participating in artisan fairs and making wood items for a number of the Woman’s Exchanges in the National Federation.

She has been a woodworker for more than 40 years and maintains her high standard of craftsmanship. Ingrid handcrafts her pieces from n

Natural woods, without use of dyes, and is always trying to find new and different woods. She believes in using every scrap of the wood and inlays and layers her pieces.  Woodworking has always been an important part of her life.
