Meet Nancy Kane - She Crochets Lovely Baby Items!

Nancy’s one-of-a-kind handcrafted items for babies and children have been delighting customers at The Dedham Exchange for the past few years. They make perfect gifts and are always a big hit at baby showers.

Among her most popular creations are whimsical crocheted high top sneakers for babies, soft and cozy crocheted and knitted baby blankets, and adorable knitted circle crowns for children.

“My mom showed me how to knit and crochet at about age 14,” Nancy recalls. “We had some laughs as it took a little coordination to hold the yarn and needles or crochet hook, but I eventually got it! I love creating handmade products and hope they are enjoyed by others for years to come.”

The first item Nancy made, coached by her mother’s early instructions, was a pair of thumbless baby mitts which she gave to a friend.  Both fondly remember this gift, a token of her earliest crafting efforts.  Before Nancy connected with the Dedham Exchange, she only gave away her creations to friends and family.  These days, instead of selling her wares at artisan fairs, Nancy looks upon her crafting on behalf of the Dedham Exchange as a meaningful part of her life, stating, “It’s perfect just as it is. Otherwise it would be too much like a job!”

Nancy currently has time to truly enjoy this creativity now in her retirement from a series of jobs in electronics and business, and also enjoys helping to care for her grandchildren.
