Maria Testa is our Featured Artisan this Month!

Maria her approach to her art: “Combining passion for color and texture with my vision of the natural world, I create hand-painted scarves on silk.”

She received her BFA in Photography at Massachusetts Collage of Art which has guided her sense of composition, but she found her true passion has been in working with fiber and color.

She uses a variety of painting and dyeing techniques on a frame of stretched silk that she uses to create a final collage of fabric which is the basis for her wearable art.

She works most days in her studio, located in a revitalized mill at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell.
